Sl1myz, Lead Developer, talks about how the game is over the past 6 months.

Hello! It’s me, the lead developer of Giant’s Clash: Sl1myz! I am here to talk about several things regarding our development progress since we launched our Open Beta!

First, I would like to thank everyone for enjoying our game so far! With new additions of features and quality-of-life improvements to the game, we could not have done it without people in the community who consistently participate in rigorous testing and research put into the game. We have been working hard to improve your experience along with onboarding new players to join the fun as well. Countless many features have been implemented, including the ones that are still in development. I am so excited to share with you what to expect next!

Regarding the gameplay system, there have been a lot of features added over the past few months. Here are all, if I did not miss any, of the features so far:

  • Hero Previews
  • Death & Spectator Camera
  • Party System
  • Improved Matchmaking
  • New Gameplay Interactions
  • Gameplay Audio Overhaul
  • Interactive Lobby (Parkour, 1v1 Arena, Secrets to Discover)
  • Menu & In-game Tips

As you can see, these updates aim to meet the expectations of newcomers and improve accessibility while maintaining the hype for new updates for our loyal fanbase. Please keep providing us feedback whether you like it or not on the Discord server!

Now, let us get to the core of this conversation yet: The State of the Game. You may have seen that there are not many active players each week, with each week being about the same faces. This creates a massive disparity between new players and existing players where the existing players, whose knowledge and skill are more advanced, will certainly destroy newcomers if matched with one another. Our team has looked into this issue and addressed this in multiple steps:

  • Performed a full proficiency reset.
  • Reevaluated the proficiency rating system and tailored the curve to a suitable level.
  • Set a limit to the rank difference within each match. If the rating difference is too high, the match will count as unranked.
  • Tightened the matchmaking range such that it is harder to find matches that do not belong to the player’s skill level.
  • The party system will now distribute parties evenly across teams to avoid clumping.

We believe these steps taken will benefit the user experience in the long run. Please look forward to welcoming even more players onto the server because we are going full throttle on promoting the game on a worldwide scale!

Lastly, I want to discuss the future content for the game. You can expect to see content drops following the roadmap and a fully flushed-out cosmetics system coming to our game before launch! We love to create ground-breaking changes like the 17/02/2025 Melee Update and open up to more innovation. However, due to the onboarding processes as mentioned earlier, please expect no significant gameplay changes other than additions to the existing content in the upcoming months.

Thank you for all the hype and support, and we will see you in the land of Giants! @Sl1myz Lead Developer @TeamD
